Are you having trouble creating an account† or logging into our web site? The most common problem is entering an incorrect user name. On our server, we ask that you use your real name, no handles, aliases or abbreviations. So you should enter both your first and last name, with a space in-between. The system will reject entries which don’t follow this convention; this is the most common problem people encounter when signing up for an account. Once you are signed up, you must enter your information exactly as before, including the same capitalization and number of spaces.
So if the system is telling you that the account name you chose is invalid, make sure you are using your first and last name (with a single space in-between). You may use middle initials and suffixes too, if you like, but remember you will have to enter them exactly the same way when logging into your account. Also, be careful not to slip in an extra space.
So what do you do if you forgot exactly how you entered your name and now you can’t log in? Request a new password. You can use the eMail address you signed yourself up with to identify yourself on the “request new password” page. [Note: Currently this feature is not working as a result of a bug introduced in a recent security update to Drupal core. In the interim, until the Drupal development team issues an update, you may request a new password by contacting SWNI staff.]
If you have a problem with your account name as you entered it when you signed up originally, you may change it under your account settings.
