We did it! We saved the SW Watershed Resource Center!

WRC logo
All our efforts to advocate for reinstating the SWNI/Watershed Resource Center (WRC) have paid off. Commissioner Fish will be asking Mayor Hales to remove the grant from the FY 2014-15 BES cut packages!!

Thank you to EVERYONE who showed up at the March budget hearing, wrote, spoke or otherwise advocated for reinstating the SWNI/WRC agreement in the BES budget. BES and the Commissioner's office will be reviewing the existing WRC model for supporting federal permit requirements in the upcoming year. SWNI will also take the opportunity to make sure the WRC is an effective means of support for SW residents and neighbors with watershed concerns.

If you are planning to testify at a budget hearing -- or write a budget letter -- on other topics, please thank Commissioner Fish for the decision to go forward with the SWNI/WRC agreement. Join us at the April 9th budget hearing where we will distribute blue signs to interested parties that say, "Thank you for WRC."
