Neighborhood Small Grants Program

The Neighborhood Small Grants Program provides neighborhoods with seed money to design community projects that will engage community members, businesses, schools and other organizations to create neighborhoods that are strong, safe and livable. The goal is to provide neighborhood and community organizations an opportunity to expand their community-building capacity, attract new and diverse members and sustain those already involved.

Cleanups

Neighborhood cleanups are held in the spring and fall, at the Portland Christian Center, 5700 SW Dosch Road. Call the Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc. office for information, (503) 823-4592. These cleanups provide our neighbors a great opportunity to clean out their closets and recycle yard debris. Read more

National Night Out

Every year communities all over the United States celebrate their neighborhood and keeping it safe. SW Portland has about 30 NNO events and neighbors come out, meet each other, play games and grow stronger!
National Night Out is designed to:

•   Heighten crime and drug precention awareness;
•   Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
•   Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-commuity partnerships; and
•   Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Candidate's Fair

SWNI holds a candidate's fair that allows neighbors an opportunity to meet the candidates and find out where they stand on important issues facing all of us. Come out and ask your questions for the race for Mayor and the three Commissioner positions.
