The agenda was approved, as were the minutes of the November meeting. Executive Committee Business: · Wes gave notice of imminent Board retreat planning. · Patty reported the budget as on target. · Glenn thanked the Board for its attentive participation through the year. Executive Director’s Report: Sylvia Bogert. · **21 proposals were received for neighborhood grants, totaling $35,000 (for which $25,000 is available). · Jan 22, Sam Adams at MAC to present PDOT budget · Feb 24, Board retreat. · Net training went well. 35 participants at OSHU Land Use Committee. John Gibbon · **Riverview has filed a Measure 37 claim to put residential development on the cemetery. Don Baack asked, “Should the board put a land use proposal together to present to the legislature?” · **There will be a community conversation on infill on Feb 24. Neighborhoods with issue need to attend, 9-1 at Bureau of Development Services headquarters, 1900 SW 4th. Transportation. Patty Lee · The committee is researching fund sources for sidewalks, other than LIDs. · **Future meetings, starting in January, will be the third WED. · Two motions were presented: (1) that SWNI endorse the Homestead/South Portland letter to Council seeking Tri Met rates and transferability for their neighborhoods. This passed 9 to 7, with 2 abstentions. ** (2) That SWNI support these same principles for all users. This passed unanimously · A third motion from the floor directed a SWNI letter to OSHU seeking to know what kind of freight will be carried on the tram, in detail. This passed unanimously. Schools: The Schools Committee did not meet in December due to a power outage at the Multnomah Center. Crime Prevention, Public Safety, and Problem Solving. Nancy Hand Next meeting: A representative from the School Police. Trails. Don Baack · Stephens Creek improvements are going for building permits. · **SW bike boulevards are being proposed. Get nominations in. Parks. Kirky Doblie · Next: Jan 4, Bob Schulz, SW coordinator for Parks, & Matt Grum regarding skateboard park in Gabriel Park. · A hydro park has proposed for the Water Tower Site in Markham NA. · Multnomah NA is doing a greenway improvement near the bridge. · **Planning for summer concerts in SW Parks is underway. $10,000 will be needed from the public. Donations accepted, 2 venues, 4 concerts. · **This in from West Portland Park NA: How about no city parkland may ever be sold without 3 independent appraisals and full public process. Take this up with your NA. Unfinished business. None New business. **SWNI has been asked to join with Neighborhood House and others to assist in a winter food drive. Ask NAs if they would like to support this project. Announcements. · Dorothy Gage reported the Sellwood Bridge planning is on pace. · Nancy Hand reported a serious accident occurred at the dangerous intersection located at Boones Ferry and Stevenson Rd. · West Portland Park NA is seeking to get I-5 signs to stop use of Jake brakes on I5.
