Bridger convened the meeting at 7:02pm.The March agenda was approved, as were the minutes of the February meeting. Guest Speaker: Sgt. Ron Mason, of the Neighborhood Liaison Program of the Portland Police Department. **Liaison officers will contact the NAs for an appearance. Executive Committee Business: · Wes McMullen reported that a Communications Committee is being formed for retreat follow-up. He will be interim chair. · **NA action plans are due to SWNI by May 15. · Ester announced Volunteers of the Year meeting for Monday, June 25. **Nominations from each NA are due May 15. · Patty reported the budget as on target. Board balance: $2,700. · ONI’s budget increase is likely to be 3/4 approved, + $750,000. Executive Director’s Report: Leonard Gard. · **Spring Cleanup is May 12 at Pdx Xian Center. Mike Boyer is looking into getting a paper shredder. · **Charter Amendments and School Board forum is April 30, at MAC. Land Use Committee. Leonard Gard. · SWHRL has 4-5 big land use cases coming up. · A 279-unit condo is being planned for Sam Jackson Park Rd. · Residential in-fill is getting a re-look by the City. · The Committee is hoping to get the Planning Commission to tour the SW this summer. · **BES will begin giving advance email notice of mailed land use notices. Give Leonard you desired NA contact. Transportation: Jim Gardner · The Light Rail Bridge over the Willamette is being restudied by Metro. It will not necessarily be at Caruthers St. Schools: Will Fuller · There is a need for a newsletter linking the SW Schools. Such will be provided by the Committee, online. · SW has 22 schools (counting pre-school), 11 of which are private. They comprise 7400 students (pre K-12); 2300 are private, 1600 are at Wilson, 3500 are public. Crime Prevention, Public Safety, and Problem Solving: Nancy Hand · **NAs are asked to ID streets and intersections, which warrant extra police patrol. Parks: Kirky Doblie · Holly Farm Park is nearing completion. · Next meeting will hear a report on Skate Board Parks, and talk to Terry Davis, SW zone, park manager. Unfinished business: · A Nominating Committee for board officers has been appointed: Nancy Hand, Susan Egnor, and Brian Russell. · Mult. Blvd. sewer project. Dorothy Gage moved That SWNI formally ask Commissioner Ådams for a departmental investigation, written report, and list of corrective measures to avoid a recurrence of the sewer pipeline failures on Multnomah Blvd. John Gould seconded the motion. An amendment from Will Fuller to add cost saving considerations failed by one vote. The motion was adopted with one no vote.
