Action Item 2019-7-17-1: Robert Hamilton moved that the HNA approve a slate of new nominees to Board positions, including Marie Tyvoll as President, Glenn Bridger as Vice President, Rick Meigs as Treasurer, and Will Reese as Secretary. The Motion was seconded and passed 9-0.
Action Item 2019-7-17-2: Rick Meigs moved to approve a slate of new nominees to Committee Representative positions. The Motion was seconded and passed 9-0.
Action Item 2019-7-17-3: Marie Tyvoll moved that the HNA adopt a Resolution to request an update from incoming Principal Filip Hristic on budget staff cuts and to learn Wilson High School’s plans to communicate with the public about recent incidents of hate speech at the school. The motion was seconded and approved 7-2.
Action Item 2019-7-17-4: Glenn Bridger moved that the HNA sponsor the National Night Out Event and authorize $100 in expenditures to support the event. The motion was seconded and approved 9-0.
Action Item 2019-7-17-5: Rick Meigs moved that the HNA write a letter to support Fanno Creek Clinic in creating a new mural for the wall of its building that faces Vermont Street. The motion was seconded and passed 9-0.
Action Item 2019-7-17-6: Rick Meigs moved that HNA prepare a position paper for the City describing the HNA’s accomplishments and arguing for the continued existence of neighborhood associations. The motion was seconded and passed 8-0-1.

The meeting began at 6:45 pm. Don Baack chaired.
Members introduced themselves and discussed reasons they valued living in Hillsdale.
The Agenda for the meeting was approved.
Rick presented the Treasurer’s report, noting that the HNA account balance was $757.95.
The approval of June Minutes was postponed until the next meeting of Membership to allow sufficient time for review.

Secretary: Will Reese agreed to continue as Secretary with other Board Members taking turns writing Minutes
President: Marie Tyvoll agreed to serve as President
Vice-President: Glenn Bridger agreed to serve as Vice-President

The slate of Nominees was approved 9-0.
Wilson High School Resolution
Marie Tyvoll discussed a Resolution to request an update from incoming Wilson High School Principal Filip Hristic on budget staff cuts and plans to communicate with the public about recent incidents of hate speech at the school. Marie moved that the HNA adopt the Resolution, amended at Tatiana’s suggestion to request a meeting with the Principal, and the motion to adopt was seconded and approved 7-2.
Marie agreed to write and send an email to the Principal on behalf of the HNA stating that the HNA Board passed the Resolution and requesting appropriate action.
National Night Out
Barbara Bowers discussed plans for National Night out and signed up volunteers to help with various aspects of the event.
Glenn Bridger moved that the HNA sponsor the National Night Out Event and authorize $100 in expenditures to support the event. The motion was seconded and approved 9-0.
Wall Mural at Fanno Creek Clinic
Lane Hickey, of Fanno Creek Clinic, shared information about a new mural to appear on the Clinic building (side facing Vermont Street).
The Board voted 9-0 to approve the writing of a letter in support of the project so that the Clinic might secure funding for the painting of the mural.
Position Paper on the HNA’s Accomplishments
Don proposed that HNA prepare a position paper to be presented to the City describing the HNA’s accomplishments and arguing for the continued existence of neighborhood associations. Rick moved that the paper be written, and Don, along with Tatiana and Bre all expressed interest in writing and editing the paper. The motion was seconded and passed 8-0-1.
The meeting adjourned at 9 pm.
