Our Earth Day Cleanup on Saturday 4/23 was a great success!

Over 50 volunteers signed up or showed up, all ready to show support and love for our community.

By the time everyone was out and about we were out of supplies… we used every last item. Solve provided roughly 40 large trash bags (plus some supplied by volunteers) and they all came back full.

Some interesting items came back!

Thank you to Sam and the Starbucks team for donating coffee. Our volunteers very much enjoyed it! Thank you to Kristin and Meals on Wheels People for allowing us to use your location to gather and dumpsters for disposal. The location was perfect and your block should be spotless!

… from SRV page – outdated material

Multnomah SRV still has no decision on how to cure noncompliance with deed restrictions.

The General Services Administration (GSA), which administers the SRV contract for the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), ruled that the SRV violates the agreement signed when the Army Corps of Engineers deeded the property to Portland. GSA has not prohibited the SRV from continuing operations, however, so the city is continuing to operate the SRV as before.
There is still no date set for completion of the GSA review or arrangement. We have asked the city SRV staff to keep us informed promptly about any changes or decisions, so we hear from them first, not the media or whistleblowers.

Excerpts from the report, dated Wednesday, June 29th:

“From time-to-time, many communities across the country have had to remedy non-compliance or have sought to change the public benefit program of use as local needs have changed,” the GSA said in a statement.

In a letter sent to the General Services Administration dated June 27, 2022, the City’s Chief Administrative Officer wrote:
“The City has reviewed the options presented to us at the meeting with GSA on June 13, 2022, and this letter is to provide written notification that we intend to pursue the Public Benefit Conveyance (PBC) program of use change for the portion of the Property utilized for the Safe Rest Village.
We also understand that upon receipt of this information the GSA will work with City staff and other Federal agency personnel, as needed, on a plan with milestones to cure the noncompliance as determined by FEMA for the portion of the Property utilized for the Safe Rest Village.”
