Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Promoting an open, fair, welcoming, and safe neighborhood

MNA Equity Statement

Our vision:  diversity, equity, and inclusion are natural parts of what we do to be good neighbors. To honor that vision, we express those qualities in common neighborly terms: openness, fairness, and welcoming.

We’ve added safety to the list, because the neighborhood needs to be safe in order for its residents to feel like being open, fair, and welcoming. Safety is especially important to those who have experienced traumatically unsafe treatment from systemic unfair discrimination.

We make special efforts to include and support communities that have been specially mistreated. And that’s top priority. At the same time we are good neighbors with communities that have been well-treated, and call on them to help to build a more open, fair, welcoming, and safe neighborhood for all.

Status Updates

5/18/2023 We voted at our May general meeting to become a Southwest Corridor Equity Coalition (SWEC) member, and SWEC accepted us. Our Equity chair, Will Fuller, will be our SWEC rep. See the SWEC project materials below for details on what that involves, especially the charter and SW equitable strategies.

Outreach Action Team Revival

With the easing of Covid I am starting to reach out to apartments in the area again by leafleting, and exploring alternate notices, e.g. posted notices of meetings in the village, other online sources, reaching out to select groups in the area like SWEC.
